Assistant Coach: Eric Thuneman
Coach Eric comes
to us after a hiatus from coaching in order to earn his
Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. Prior to working
on his Masters degree he was the Head Swim Coach of the
Kroehler YMCA Swim Team in Naperville and the Farmstead Swim
Club part of the Naperville Park District Swim Conference.
Coach Eric has a
bachelor’s degree in Physical education and is currently an
Elementary PE Teacher in the town of Wood Dale. He really
likes to work with the age group swimmer and to help develop
them into the best swimmer they can possibly be.
Coach Eric has 20
plus years of competitive swimming experience on every level
from park district, club, high school and collegiate
swimming. Coach Eric swam for the napy swim club in
Naperville while growing up and also at Naperville Central
High School. He then swam for the Fort Bragg, NC army post
team and finally at the College of DuPage where he was a 2
time NJCAA finalist in the 100 breast and 200 breast.
Assistant Coach: Julie King
Julie is beginning her second year as an assistant coach at
the Hinsdale Swim Club. She graduated with a B.S. degree
from Illinois State University. Since moving to the suburbs
she has been working as a substitute teacher.
Julie swam competitively for many years. She was a YMCA
state champion and a Junior Olympic champion during her age
group years. She has coached for country club teams as well
as another USA team for many years.
Her
husband Corky is the Hinsdale Central boys swimming coach as
well as a coach for Hinsdale Swim Club in the spring and
summer. She has two sons, Skyler and Brandon, both in
college. Brandon swims for Hope College and the Hinsdale
swim club when he returns in the summer.
Assistant
Coach: Scrib Ochsenschlager
Scrib
Ochsenschlager is beginning his third year with the Hinsdale
Swim Club. He is a graduate of Indiana University and
earned B.S. and M.B.A degrees. He retired after 26 years
with the First National Bank of Chicago (later Bank One),
his last position being Senior Vice President and Senior
Credit Officer for Asia and Latin America. Scrib
began swimming competitively at age 8 and continued through
high school. While he was in high school and college, Scrib
coached during the summers in Aurora, Illinois, where he
grew up, and at Indiana where he played water polo for two
years. Scrib continues to swim year round as a Masters
swimmer. He resides in Hinsdale with his wife Kimberly.
